Hamburg, April 2, 2026 – Hamburg Service officially inaugurated its new, barrier-free location at Christoph-Probst-Weg on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. This new branch, situated at the border of Eppendorf and Lokstedt, is designed to serve over 1,000 citizens daily with essential services, including identity cards, passports, and certifications. The facility operates from 7 AM to 7 PM.
New Central Hub for Citizen Services
The new Lokstedt-Eppendorf site consolidates and replaces the former Hamburg Service centers located in Lenhartzstraße (Hamburg-Nord district) and the Grindel high-rises (Eimsbüttel district). Hamburg’s Finance and District Senator Andreas Dressel (SPD) officially opened the new facility, welcoming the first customers who will experience no change in service quality, only a new, more accessible address.
“This new location represents a significant step forward in our commitment to providing efficient and accessible public services to the citizens of Hamburg,” stated Senator Dressel during the opening ceremony. “We have focused on creating a modern, user-friendly environment that can handle a high volume of requests while maintaining a high standard of service.”
Excellent Transport Links and Accessibility
The new Hamburg Service center at Christoph-Probst-Weg 4 boasts excellent connectivity to public transport. The Frickestraße bus stop is located in the immediate vicinity, with the bus line 22 operating every 10 minutes. Furthermore, the planned U5 subway station “UKE” will be just a few minutes’ walk away, further enhancing accessibility for residents across the city.
For those traveling by car, ample parking spaces are available. The facility also provides sufficient bicycle parking and a nearby Switch-Station for car-sharing users. A key feature of the new location is its complete barrier-free design, ensuring that all citizens, regardless of their mobility, can easily access the services provided.
“Our goal was to ensure that this new center is not only centrally located but also easily reachable for everyone,” a spokesperson for Hamburg Service commented. “The integration with various transport options and the full accessibility features underscore our dedication to inclusive public service.”
Efficiency and Enhanced Service Capacity
With extended operating hours from 7 AM to 7 PM, the Lokstedt-Eppendorf branch is equipped to handle a significant increase in demand for citizen services. The consolidation of two previous locations into a single, larger facility is expected to streamline operations and reduce waiting times for appointments.
The range of services offered remains comprehensive, covering all essential administrative tasks that citizens typically require. This centralization aims to improve the overall efficiency of public administration in Hamburg, making it more convenient for residents to manage their official affairs.
The opening of this new Hamburg Service location is part of a broader strategy by the city administration to modernize and optimize its public service infrastructure. This initiative reflects Hamburg’s commitment to adapting to the evolving needs of its population and leveraging modern facilities to deliver superior citizen experiences.
