Allermöhe Business Park: Companies Aim to Replace Fossil Fuels

One such example is the Allermöhe Business Park, where several companies are collaborating to replace fossil fuels with locally produced electricity and industrial waste heat. Additionally, residents with solar panels will be able to supply surplus electricity to their neighbors starting in June, provided they establish a contractual agreement. According to the consumer advice center, this could significantly reduce the amortization period for solar installations. However, the potential earnings are limited due to the imposition of charges such as grid fees.

Red-Green Coalition: Law Lacks Financial Incentives

While Hamburg’s governing factions welcome the new law, they also identify gaps within its framework. A primary concern is the absence of financial incentives for local energy communities. The SPD and the Greens, in a parliamentary motion, argue that subsidies or lower grid fees would make these communities more attractive. They are urging the Senate to advocate for such measures. Furthermore, they demand legal clarity on when private electricity providers will be classified as network operators.
