Hundreds of Bikers Honor Fallen Soldiers in Berlin Memorial Run
Berlin, May 16, 2026 – Hundreds of motorcyclists participated in a memorial run on Saturday, paying tribute to fallen soldiers. A dpa reporter observed the reading of names of deceased soldiers during the event. Motorcyclists from several other countries also joined the procession.
The “Memorial Run” is primarily dedicated to fallen soldiers of the Bundeswehr, as well as those who served in UN and NATO missions. Participants honored the deceased and, according to their own statements, aimed to set a “sign for cohesion, respect, and remembrance.”
Event Route and International Participation
The memorial ride commenced at the former Tempelhof Airport and concluded with a rally at the Bundeswehr Memorial at the Federal Ministry of Defense. The event saw participation from individuals hailing from Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, Poland, Romania, France, the United Kingdom, and the USA.
The event, organized to commemorate the sacrifices of soldiers, underscored a collective commitment to remembering those who have served. The presence of international participants highlighted the global nature of military service and the shared respect for fallen heroes.
The procession, a solemn display of remembrance, brought together individuals from diverse backgrounds united by a common purpose: to honor and remember. The reading of names served as a poignant reminder of the personal cost of conflict and the sacrifices made by military personnel.
This annual event provides a platform for both active service members and veterans, as well as the general public, to express their gratitude and respect for those who have died in service. It also aims to foster a sense of community and solidarity among participants.
The choice of the Bundeswehr Memorial as the final destination for the rally further emphasized the official recognition and solemnity of the occasion. The memorial serves as a central place of remembrance for all Bundeswehr soldiers who have died in the line of duty.
The organizers reiterated their commitment to continuing this tradition, ensuring that the memory of fallen soldiers remains alive and that their sacrifices are never forgotten. They also expressed their hope for even greater international participation in future events.
