Hyatt Continues European Expansion with Berlin Addition
Berlin, 17 August 2026 – Hyatt has further strengthened its European footprint by signing a franchise agreement for a Hyatt Regency property in Berlin. The existing Hotel Palace Berlin will undergo a “phased” renovation of its rooms and public areas, rebranding as the Hyatt Regency Palace Berlin in early 2027.
Strategic Location and Extensive Amenities
Located in Berlin’s bustling City West district, directly opposite the iconic Berlin Zoo, the hotel boasts 239 rooms and 39 suites. Guests will have access to a club lounge, a restaurant, two bars, a spa, and a swimming pool. For business and events, the property offers 18 venues with a total capacity to accommodate up to 900 attendees.
This new addition complements Hyatt’s existing portfolio in the German capital, which includes the Grand Hyatt Berlin, the Me and All Hotel Berlin East Side, and the Lindner Hotel Berlin Ku’damm, part of the JdV by Hyatt collection.
Hyatt Regency Brand: A Natural Fit for Berlin
Gabriela Basovska, Hyatt’s director of development for Northern Europe, expressed enthusiasm about the new venture. “Hotel Palace Berlin has built an exceptional reputation over many years, and we’re excited to welcome it to the Hyatt Regency brand,” she stated. “Its prime City West location, premium hospitality and exceptional meeting facilities make it a natural fit for a brand built around bringing people together.”
The Hyatt Regency Palace Berlin will mark the fourth Regency property in Germany, joining existing hotels in Cologne, Düsseldorf, and Mainz. The brand recently opened a new hotel adjacent to London’s redeveloped Olympia exhibition and conference centre, with the Hyatt Regency Rome Central set to debut in Q4.
Broader European Growth for Hyatt
Beyond the Hyatt Regency brand, Hyatt has been actively expanding its presence across Europe. This summer saw the opening of Me and All Leipzig, while The Standard Lisbon, Thompson Rome, and Thompson Seville are all scheduled to open in the final quarter of 2026.
Impact on Berlin’s Hospitality Landscape
The introduction of the Hyatt Regency Palace Berlin is expected to further enhance Berlin’s appeal as a premier destination for both leisure and business travelers. The hotel’s comprehensive facilities, particularly its extensive meeting and event spaces, will cater to the growing demand for high-quality accommodation and conference venues in the city.
The phased renovation ensures that the hotel will be modernized to meet the high standards associated with the Hyatt Regency brand, while preserving its established reputation. This strategic move by Hyatt underscores its commitment to expanding its luxury and upscale offerings in key European markets.
The rebrand is anticipated to create new employment opportunities within the hospitality sector in Berlin, contributing to the local economy. The hotel’s location in City West, a vibrant district known for its shopping, entertainment, and cultural attractions, is expected to draw a diverse range of guests.
Hyatt’s sustained investment in the German market reflects the country’s strong economic performance and its position as a significant hub for international business and tourism. The addition of the Hyatt Regency Palace Berlin reinforces Hyatt’s competitive position in the European luxury hotel segment.
The company’s strategy of both new builds and rebranding existing reputable hotels allows for rapid expansion and diversification of its portfolio, catering to various traveler preferences and market segments across the continent.
The Hyatt Regency brand is known for its consistent quality, full-service amenities, and focus on connecting guests with their destinations. The Palace Berlin property, with its established history and prime location, is well-positioned to uphold these brand values and become a flagship hotel for Hyatt in Germany.
The renovation process will be carefully managed to minimize disruption, ensuring that the hotel maintains its operational capabilities while undergoing significant upgrades. Further details regarding the renovation timeline and specific enhancements will be released closer to the rebranding date in early 2027.
