Trial Begins for Man Accused of Rape and Attempted Murder in Hamburg
Hamburg, April 16 – A 42-year-old man is currently on trial before the Hamburg Regional Court, facing serious charges including attempted murder, severe rape, and dangerous bodily harm against his live-in girlfriend. According to the indictment, the accused and his girlfriend were staying at a hotel in Hamburg-Borgfelde. When the woman reportedly expressed her unwillingness to engage in sexual activity, the accused allegedly proceeded to rape and abuse her. Prosecutors state that the man, who was under the influence of alcohol and narcotics at the time, repeatedly punched the victim, struck her head with a glass bottle, and covered her airways with a pillow. The indictment further details that the 42-year-old man only ceased his alleged attack when police officers arrived at the hotel room door. Following the intervention, the victim was hospitalized for several days to receive treatment for her extensive injuries.
