Large-scale Police Operation Near CDU Headquarters in Berlin
A significant police operation unfolded on Monday evening in Berlin-Tiergarten, near the federal headquarters of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU). Authorities were alerted to a man standing in front of the Konrad Adenauer House on Klingelhöferstraße, reportedly armed with a sword and threatening self-harm. The incident, which began around 5:00 PM, concluded with the arrest of the individual by a Special Deployment Commando (SEK) unit at approximately 6:30 PM.
No Connection to CDU Party Headquarters
Following his apprehension, the man was transported by emergency medical services to a hospital. The area surrounding the CDU headquarters was extensively cordoned off during the operation, involving approximately 70 police officers. Police emphasized that, according to current findings, there is no specific connection between the arrested individual and the CDU party headquarters. “A reference to the Konrad Adenauer House does not exist according to current findings,” the police stated.

According to reports from the “Bild” newspaper, the arrested man is approximately 40 years old and speaks German. He allegedly claimed to have explosives in his jacket, which prompted the extensive cordoning off of the area as a precautionary measure.
