Michelin-starred chef Bobby Bräuer launches ‘Studio Kontrast’ in Munich
Munich, March 5 – Renowned Michelin-starred chef Bobby Bräuer is set to open a new, exclusive pop-up restaurant, ‘Studio Kontrast,’ in the Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory in Munich. The venture, which will offer a unique blend of French and South Indian cuisine, will operate for a limited period, from April 30 to May 24, 2026.
Exclusive Culinary Experience in Nymphenburg
Bräuer’s ‘Studio Kontrast’ will be located in the ‘Grüne Schleif’ within the historic Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory. The restaurant will serve guests on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings, as well as Sunday afternoons, accommodating only 25 diners per sitting. This highly exclusive offering underscores the unique nature of the culinary concept.
The menu will be a collaboration between Bräuer and his long-time friend Sandeep Sreedharan, a chef who previously opened his own restaurant in Mumbai and was a guest chef at EssZimmer. Their collaboration stems from Bräuer’s visit to Sreedharan in India, where he was captivated by the country’s diverse culinary traditions.
A Fusion of French Craftsmanship and South Indian Soul
According to Bräuer’s website, ‘Studio Kontrast’ aims to combine French culinary craftsmanship, providing structure, with the soul of South Indian coastal flavors. Bräuer expressed his fascination with the ‘diversity, aroma, complexity, and balance’ of Indian cooking, noting that in India, the approach to cooking is ‘completely different.’ Sreedharan added, ‘Here, spices are layered and roasted, not just added.’
Premium Dining at a Premium Price
This exclusive dining experience comes with a significant price tag. A ticket for an evening, which includes a multi-course menu, aperitif, wine, water, and coffee, is priced at 340 Euros per person. Guests will have the option to choose between a regular menu and a vegetarian alternative, as well as alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverage pairings.
Bräuer’s previous culinary endeavor was at EssZimmer in the BMW Welt, where he earned two Michelin stars and 18 points in the Feinschmecker magazine. Following the handover of EssZimmer to his successor, Bräuer stated that he now enjoys ‘the freedom to cook with people and products that bring me joy.’
Limited Availability and High Demand Expected
Given the limited seating and the reputation of both chefs, high demand for reservations is anticipated. Food enthusiasts and connoisseurs are advised to secure their bookings promptly to experience this unique culinary fusion before ‘Studio Kontrast’ concludes its run on May 24, 2026.
The pop-up concept allows Bräuer to explore new culinary avenues and collaborate with international talents, bringing innovative dining experiences to Munich’s vibrant gastronomic scene.
The Nymphenburg Porcelain Manufactory provides an elegant and historical backdrop for this temporary culinary venture, enhancing the overall dining experience with its unique ambiance.
This initiative reflects a growing trend in the fine dining world towards temporary, experimental concepts that offer chefs the freedom to innovate and diners the opportunity to experience unique, fleeting culinary creations.
