Munich Bakery Issues Urgent Recall Over Glass Shard Contamination
Munich, January 22 – K.O. Back-Kollektiv GmbH, a bakery located in the Schwabing district of Munich, has announced an extensive product recall. The recall is a precautionary measure due to the potential presence of glass shards in several of its baked goods, which could lead to serious injuries if consumed. According to the company, this is a precautionary consumer protection recall. Glass shards were discovered in sunflower seeds supplied by one of their raw material providers. The manufacturer of the sunflower seeds could not rule out that the entire production batch was affected and, consequently, initiated a full recall of the seeds.

Despite no irregularities being detected during the processing of the sunflower seeds at K.O. Back-Kollektiv GmbH, the bakery is proactively recalling the following products:
- Sunflower Seed Bread
- Rye Sunflower Seed Bread
- Wheat Sunflower Seed Bread
- Spelt Seed Bread
- Four-Seed Rolls
- Whole Grain Sticks
- Muesli Corners
The sales period for these products was from early to late December 2025. Additionally, Sunflower Corners sold until January 2026 are also affected by this recall.

Consumers are strongly advised against consuming any of the aforementioned products. Even small glass shards can cause significant health damage, including internal injuries and cuts.
