🚨 Munich Bar Declares WAR on Dirndl & Lederhosen for Oktoberfest! You WON’T Believe Why! 😱
Okay, buckle up, buttercups, because this is NOT a drill! A super-hip bar in Munich has just dropped a bombshell that’s got the whole city (and the internet!) in a frenzy. We’re talking about a full-on BAN on traditional Bavarian attire during Oktoberfest! 🤯

The place? ‘Gebrüder Keller and Erben’ in the super cool Glockenbachviertel. The owner? Florian Keller, 58. And his message? Loud and clear: NO DIRNDL, NO LEDERHOSEN! 🚫
Since today, a sign proudly (or controversially?) hangs on their door: “No Trachten – Mainstream is elsewhere.” And just in case you didn’t get the memo, Keller has been blasting this message on the bar’s Instagram for days, adding a spicy little note:
“Tracht-wearing people and generally all frugal social climbers with striped shirts or Gucci bags are welcome to find a more suitable place. There are more than enough of those in Munich.”

Why the HATE for Tracht, Florian?! 🧐
Florian Keller is NOT backing down. He says these comments are like water off a duck’s (or a Lederhosen-clad person’s) back. His reasoning? It’s all about the vibe, people!
“We are a subculture place with art and diversity and have nothing to do with tracht-wearers,”
he explains. And get this – he claims Wiesn visitors are actually BAD for business!
“I know many nice people who like to wear tracht! But tracht during the Wiesn is a signal for: Is drunk, consumes nothing, harasses other guests and, in the worst case, throws up all over my place,”
Keller states. And apparently, he’s not alone in this sentiment among Munich’s bar owners. 👀
It’s Not About the Money, Honey! 💸
Last year, ‘Gebrüder Keller’ didn’t have this ban. But then, it became super popular for its cheap drinks (Augstiner Helles for €2.80, Aperol Spritz for €3.80). Keller says these prices are for students and artists, “so they can go out cheaply,” not for “mass processing of people who want to drink a meter of Aperol.”
“I don’t need people who only come here because of the hype and displace my regulars. I don’t have to serve the general public.”
He even points out other places that *do* welcome tracht: “Across the street is the ‘Wirtshaus Xaver’s’. They’re thrilled when you show up like that.”
“Oktoberfest is NOT Tradition!” 🤯
Wait, what?! A native Münchner, fourth generation no less, is challenging the very idea of Oktoberfest tradition! He claims:
“I looked at photos of Oktoberfest from 1965. You have to search for Lederhosen with a magnifying glass there.”
He himself rarely goes to the Wiesn anymore, and if he does, it’s in civilian clothes. He calls it an “over-commercialized and overpriced event” and says he doesn’t need to participate in the “fat, over-present, arrogant mainstream.”
Other Bars Have Done It Too! 🤫
This isn’t the first time Munich bars have taken a stand against tracht during Oktoberfest. In recent years, places like Café Kosmos, Bar Cucurucu, Goldene Bar, Club Strom, Club Goldener Reiter, and Loretta Bar have all announced similar bans. Even Club Sauna, while not officially banning tracht, reportedly gave a serious side-eye to anyone in traditional gear. 🤨
