Munich Flights from Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport Suspended
Paderborn-Lippstadt, May 27, 2026 – Skyhub PAD GmbH has announced the cessation of its flight operations from Paderborn-Lippstadt Airport to Munich, effective June 10. The decision follows just over nine months of daily flights, which began on September 1, and is attributed to the unviability of the business model for inner-German flights.
Initially supported by 36 companies and private individuals, Skyhub PAD GmbH recently had 103 shareholders. Despite this backing, the company cited several reasons for the suspension, including increased kerosene prices due to the Iran conflict and booking figures that had not yet reached the desired levels.
Reasons Behind the Suspension
The company highlighted two primary factors contributing to the decision:
- Increased Kerosene Prices: The ongoing conflict in Iran has led to a significant rise in kerosene prices, directly impacting the operational costs of flights.
- Lower-than-Expected Booking Numbers: Despite daily flights, the volume of bookings did not meet the company’s expectations, making the route economically unsustainable.
The suspension marks an end to the daily flight service that aimed to connect Paderborn-Lippstadt with Munich, a key economic hub in Germany. The move reflects the challenges faced by regional airlines in maintaining profitable domestic routes amidst fluctuating market conditions and external geopolitical factors.
