Munich Prepares for 2026 FIFA World Cup Public Viewing: 105 Locations Announced

The 23rd FIFA World Cup, hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. The Abendzeitung has compiled a comprehensive list of 105 locations in Munich that will be showing the matches live, offering a vibrant public viewing experience for football fans.

Challenges with Kick-off Times

Due to the time difference, many matches will have late kick-off times in Germany, with more than half starting after midnight CET. There will be 15 different kick-off times, ranging from 6 PM to 6 AM. This means not all World Cup games can be shown in public spaces.

Germany’s group stage matches will also be affected:

  • Opening match against Curaçao: June 14, 7 PM CET
  • Second match against Ivory Coast: June 20, 10 PM CET
  • Final group match against Ecuador: June 25, 10 PM CET

Despite these challenges, Munich’s beer gardens will be allowed to stay open until 1 AM during the World Cup, allowing fans to enjoy selected matches together.
