Munich Murder Commission Investigates Mysterious Knife Attack at Apartment Door
Munich, August 2, 2026 – A 42-year-old man was seriously injured in a mysterious knife attack at an apartment door in the Neuhausen-Nymphenburg district of Munich on Friday morning. The Munich Murder Commission has launched an intensive investigation, and an EU-wide arrest warrant has been issued for a 35-year-old suspect.
Victim Opened Door Unsuspectingly
The incident occurred around 10:20 AM on Friday when the 42-year-old man, who was visiting a 36-year-old Munich resident along with two other individuals, answered a knock at the apartment door on Schachenmeierstraße. According to police, the 35-year-old suspect was standing at the door and immediately attacked the 42-year-old.
Assailant Stabbed and Punched Victim Multiple Times
The assailant reportedly stabbed the 42-year-old multiple times with a knife, causing severe injuries. In addition to the knife attack, the suspect also allegedly punched the victim with his fists. Following the assault, the attacker fled the scene.
Victim Out of Life-Threatening Danger
Emergency services transported the 42-year-old man to a Munich hospital for treatment. A police spokesperson confirmed on Sunday that the victim is no longer in a life-threatening condition.
EU-Wide Manhunt for 35-Year-Old Suspect
During the course of the intensive investigation by the Murder Commission, a 35-year-old Kosovar national residing in Munich became the focus of the manhunt. Upon application by the Munich I Public Prosecutor’s Office, the Munich District Court issued an arrest warrant, including a European arrest warrant, for attempted murder against the suspect.
“The search and investigative measures by the Munich Police Headquarters are continuing at full speed,” a police spokesperson stated.
Motive Remains Unclear
The motive behind the violent act remains unknown. Police believe that the perpetrator and the victim knew each other and had a prior relationship. However, the police have not yet provided further details regarding this connection. Jealousy is also being considered as a possible motive, though it is not yet known whether the 36-year-old hostess was involved.
