Munich, Bavaria, Germany – The Munich Security Conference (MSC) has unveiled “Munich Moments,” a new seven-part podcast series produced in collaboration with Foreign Policy. The series, with new episodes released every Friday, delves into the history of the MSC, offering listeners an intimate look at the significant events that have shaped global security discussions.

“Munich Moments”: A Journey Behind the Scenes

The “Munich Moments” podcast takes listeners on a journey behind the scenes of the Hotel Bayerischer Hof, the traditional venue for the MSC, to explore some of the most impactful moments in the conference’s history. Through exclusive conversations with eyewitnesses and leading experts, the podcast contextualizes these events and elucidates their continued relevance for contemporary security policy debates.

Listeners can anticipate a rich tapestry of original recordings and discussions with an array of distinguished guests. Among those featured are MSC Chairman Wolfgang Ischinger, Jens Stoltenberg, Garry Kasparov, Nick Burns, Jane Harman, Jake Sullivan, Sylvie Kaufmann, Simon Shuster, and MSC CEO Benedikt Franke, alongside many others.

First Episode Explores Joschka Fischer’s Landmark Speech

The inaugural episode of “Munich Moments” is now available on all major podcast platforms. It focuses on the groundbreaking speech delivered by then-German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer at the 39th Munich Security Conference in 2003. Fischer’s address notably defended Germany’s decision not to participate in a military intervention in Iraq, following remarks by then-US Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld.
