Munich, June 25, 2026 – With temperatures reaching 32.5°C, Munich is experiencing a significant heatwave. However, the Tollwood Summer Festival is actively combating the heat, ensuring a comfortable experience for its visitors. The festival team has swiftly reacted to the persistently high temperatures by expanding its heat protection concept, allowing attendees to relax and enjoy the festival despite the summer heat.
Enhanced Cooling Measures Across the Festival Grounds
The festival has implemented a range of new and expanded cooling measures. These include additional fountains for quick refreshment, more shaded areas provided by extra roofs, sun sails, and umbrellas, and increased greenery through plants, trellises, and trees.
Beyond the 14 fountains located in various gardens and around the Music Arena, as well as the water wall in the relaxation oasis, misting fans at the main entrance of the Music Arena are now providing a pleasant climate and evaporative cooling. Festival-goers are readily embracing these refreshing additions as they pass by.
A unique feature this year is the ‘Water Deployment Trio’ – performers in whimsical costumes who not only spread good cheer but also dispense cool water. They are continuously active throughout the festival grounds and even during concerts in the Music Arena, offering instant relief from the heat.
For those in need of rapid cooling, the ‘Cooling Oasis’ in the Lion’s Garden offers a quick escape. A sauna barrel, equipped with a solar-powered air conditioning system, provides a pleasantly chilled space for a brief respite from the heat.
A Festival for People and the Environment
Stefanie Kneer, spokesperson for the Tollwood Summer Festival, emphasized the festival’s commitment to visitor comfort. “Summer is Tollwood time, and we want to make it as pleasant as possible for people on the grounds,” she stated. “Our audience is enthusiastically embracing the refreshment measures. People are happy to cool down.”
Adding to the existing shade provided by numerous plants, roofs, fabric canopies, and umbrellas, a new ‘Wandering Tree Alley’ from Green City has been introduced. Fifteen trees have found a temporary home at the Tollwood Summer Festival for the next three weeks, offering additional shade and a pleasant coolness. This initiative further enhances the festival’s commitment to both visitor well-being and environmental consciousness.
For those seeking a relaxed spot in the city, the Tollwood Summer Festival offers numerous opportunities to escape the heat and enjoy the diverse program in a comfortable environment.
