Brawl Erupts at Berlin Boxing Match, Nine Injured
Berlin, April 20 – A boxing match held yesterday afternoon at a sports complex in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, escalated into a violent confrontation, resulting in injuries to nine individuals. The incident, which occurred at a building on Paul-Heyse-Straße, prompted a significant response from police and fire department personnel.
According to witness accounts, around 3:30 PM, immediately following the conclusion of a boxing match, several family members of the defeated fighter reportedly stormed the boxing ring. This action quickly led to a physical altercation, during which pepper spray was allegedly deployed.
Nine People Suffer Eye Irritations
The use of pepper spray caused eye irritations to nine individuals, ranging in age from 11 to 58 years old. This group included two children and one teenager. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, and paramedics provided outpatient treatment to seven of the injured individuals. Two people declined medical attention.
Following the incident, the alleged perpetrators, who were family members of the boxer, fled the scene in multiple vehicles.
Police Investigate Suspected Dangerous Bodily Harm
The Berlin Police have launched an investigation into the incident on suspicion of dangerous bodily harm. The case is being handled by the locally responsible criminal police department of Police Directorate 1 (North).
