Olchi-Erlebniswelt to Open in Hamburg in October
Hamburg, July 14, 2026 – An interactive experience world dedicated to the popular Olchi children’s book characters is scheduled to open in Hamburg this October. The Hamburg-based media company Oetinger, which distributes the Olchi books, announced that the exhibition will run from October 3 until early 2027 at the Gaußhöfe in Altona.
Target Audience and Experience Details
The new attraction is designed for families with children aged three to twelve. Visitors can expect an immersive experience where they will solve tasks related to the Olchi world. Each visit is estimated to last between 60 to 90 minutes. The Olchis are known as green creatures who live in trash, wallow in dirt, and embark on numerous “grubby” adventures, captivating young readers with their unconventional lifestyle.
Expansion Plans and New Business Segment
Oetinger Media plans to showcase the modular exhibition concept in other cities and countries at a later stage. Furthermore, the media company is actively working on developing experience worlds for other popular characters. “The Olchi-Erlebniswelt marks the launch of a new business segment that positions Oetinger as a pioneer of unique, immersive children’s experiences in Europe,” stated the media company in its announcement.
Creator’s Involvement
The Olchi stories were conceived by Munich-based author and illustrator Erhard Dietl. He was reportedly involved in the development of the experience world, ensuring that the exhibition accurately reflects the spirit and adventures of his beloved characters. This involvement underscores the authenticity and fidelity of the upcoming attraction to the original literary works.
Cultural Impact and Future Outlook
The opening of the Olchi-Erlebniswelt is expected to further enrich Hamburg’s cultural landscape, offering a unique educational and entertainment option for families. This initiative aligns with a broader trend of bringing popular children’s literature to life through interactive exhibitions, providing engaging experiences that foster imagination and learning. The long-term vision includes establishing Oetinger as a leader in this innovative form of children’s entertainment across Europe.
