On Thursday, April 3, shortly after midnight, plainclothes officers from the Munich Traffic Police Department observed two vehicles, a BMW M3 and a BMW M4, driving conspicuously on Ingolstädter Straße, heading out of the city near Frankfurter Ring. The drivers, two German men aged 34 and 31, both residents of the Munich district, repeatedly accelerated their powerful cars, causing significant noise. They frequently changed lanes, overtaking each other and other road users at excessive speeds.
Police Struggle to Keep Up with High-Speed Chase
According to police reports, the officers, whose unmarked vehicle was equipped with a video recording system, followed the drivers and filmed all violations. As the 31-year-old in the BMW M3 and the 34-year-old in the BMW M4 drove north on Bundesstraße 13, passing the Olympia shooting range in Garching-Hochbrück, they were traveling so fast that the police found it difficult to keep pace.
Average Speed of 170 km/h Over 1.5 Kilometers
Over a distance of 1.5 kilometers, both drivers reached an average speed of 170 km/h. The speed limit in this area is 100 km/h. Due to the low traffic volume at night, no other road users were endangered before the police managed to pull over both vehicles.
