Berlin, May 26 – The sale of the reduced Germany Ticket for apprentices will begin in Berlin in just a few days, the transport administration announced. It can be ordered from transport companies starting Monday, June 1st, and used from July 1st. The ticket is valid for public transport throughout Germany.
Pre-sales and Availability Across Regions
In the state of Brandenburg, advance sales of the “Deutschlandticket Zuschuss Ausbildung” (Germany Ticket Subsidy for Training) will start at the beginning of July, and it will be available for use in Brandenburg from August 1st. This ensures the offer is available in time for the new training year in 2026.
Ticket Structure and Cost
According to the transport administration, the ticket is based on the standard Germany Ticket and will be offered at a reduced price to apprentices under specific conditions. Like the Germany Semester Ticket, it costs 60 percent of the regular Germany Ticket price, which for 2026 amounts to 37.80 Euros per month.
Eligibility and Employer Contributions
Apprentices in dual vocational training can purchase the ticket based on the “Deutschlandticket Job” with a subsidy from their employer. In Berlin, apprentices in full-time school-based training, individuals performing voluntary service, and civil service candidates in career group 1 will receive a classic Germany Ticket with a subsidy from the State of Berlin. In Brandenburg, apprentices in full-time school-based training and those performing voluntary service will receive a Germany Ticket with a subsidy from the State of Brandenburg.
Nationwide Validity and Impact
The introduction of this reduced ticket aims to alleviate financial burdens for apprentices and encourage the use of public transport. Its nationwide validity provides significant flexibility for young professionals and volunteers, facilitating their daily commutes and broader travel needs. This initiative is expected to positively impact the accessibility of education and training opportunities across the region.
This move is part of a broader effort to make public transport more affordable and accessible, particularly for younger demographics and those in vocational training. By reducing the cost of travel, authorities hope to support apprentices in their educational and professional development, while also promoting sustainable transportation options.
The transport administration emphasizes that this subsidized ticket is a crucial step towards fostering a more inclusive and supportive environment for apprentices, ensuring they have the necessary resources to pursue their careers without undue financial strain related to commuting.
