Munich, January 22 – A robbery took an unexpected turn on Tuesday evening in Munich’s Au district, near the Kolumbusplatz U-Bahn station, when two young perpetrators lost their stolen goods during their escape. The incident involved an attack on a 58-year-old man, who was robbed of his laptop bag. The Munich police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
Attack and Robbery Near Kolumbusplatz
The incident occurred around 11:15 PM on Tuesday, January 21, in front of the building at Asamstraße 23. According to a police spokesperson, the 58-year-old Munich resident was assaulted with punches, causing him to fall to the ground. The attackers then forcibly seized his laptop bag.
“The victim was attacked with punches, after which he fell to the ground. The robbers took advantage of the man’s helplessness and violently snatched his laptop bag,” stated a police report.
Fumbled Escape Leads to Lost Booty
However, the escape did not go as planned for the duo. One of the perpetrators reportedly tripped over his own feet and fell. This unexpected mishap disoriented the robbers, causing the suspect carrying the laptop bag to drop it as he scrambled back to his feet. Both teenagers managed to flee the scene, but without their loot, leaving the stolen bag behind. The police are currently investigating the incident and searching for the two individuals.

The Munich Police Department’s Commissioner 21 is handling the investigation and urges anyone who witnessed the incident or has relevant information to come forward.
