The ‘Just Talk’ program, designed to provide a listening ear for older individuals, has seen a notable rise in calls over the past year. In the past year, Silbernetz registered nearly 5,300 calls, marking an approximate 10% increase compared to the previous year. According to the organization, many callers simply wish to talk, while others share concerns about physical ailments. For some, Silbernetz represents their sole point of contact, underscoring the critical role the association plays in their lives.
The ‘Silbertelefon’ hotline, available nationwide at 0800 4 70 80 90, is staffed by volunteer employees daily from 8 AM to 10 PM. These dedicated volunteers are available to converse and exchange thoughts with older individuals, even in the absence of an acute crisis. This accessible service provides a crucial outlet for those experiencing isolation.
