Berlin, April 26 – Railway enthusiasts have a unique opportunity this weekend to take a round trip through Berlin on a steam train with historical carriages. The Berlin Steam Locomotive Friends association is hosting its Spring Festival at the Schöneweide depot, featuring a wide array of attractions for visitors of all ages.
Steam Train Schedule and Ticket Information
According to the association, four round trips with the steam train will be offered both on Saturday and Sunday. Departure times are scheduled for 10:50 AM, 12:10 PM, 2:50 PM, and 4:30 PM. Tickets for these nostalgic rides can be purchased directly at the festival grounds or on the train itself.
For those unable to secure a spot on the steam train, a special experience awaits: visitors can ride a short distance on the footplate of the large locomotives on the festival grounds. Children will also delight in a dedicated narrow-gauge railway.
Extensive Locomotive Exhibition
The festival boasts an impressive exhibition of 30 locomotives and carriages, showcasing 120 years of railway history. This provides a comprehensive overview of the evolution of rail transport, offering a treat for history buffs and casual visitors alike.
Food, Drinks, and Admission Details
To keep visitors refreshed, food and drinks will be available for purchase in a historic dining car and a beer garden. This adds to the immersive experience, allowing guests to dine in a setting reminiscent of bygone eras.
Admission to the festival grounds is 12 Euros for adults, while children between 6 and 14 years old pay 5 Euros. The round trips on the steam train are priced separately at 20 Euros, with a reduced fare of 10 Euros. The festival grounds will be open from 10 AM to 6 PM on Saturday and from 10 AM to 5 PM on Sunday.
