Hamburg, December 11 – Hamburg police and fire departments were called to two major accidents on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, involving a high-speed police chase in Wandsbek and a burning transporter on the A1 motorway.
Police Chase in Wandsbek Ends in Multiple Injuries
The first incident unfolded in Wandsbek when a black Mercedes, reportedly driving at excessive speed, caught the attention of police. According to journalist reports and confirmed by police on Thursday morning, officers initiated a pursuit.
During the chase, the driver accelerated, collided with another vehicle, and eventually came to a halt on Ahrensburger Straße near Eickhoffweg. The 31-year-old male driver attempted to flee on foot but was apprehended shortly after. The crash left three people seriously injured and two others with minor injuries. A nearby gas station’s surveillance camera reportedly captured the entire incident.
Transporter Catches Fire After A1 Collision
Hours later, a second severe accident occurred on the A1 motorway between the Stillhorn rest stop and the Norderelbe motorway junction. A transporter reportedly crashed into a truck without braking, leading to the transporter catching fire. The driver managed to escape the burning cabin with injuries.
