Following an incident in Schnelsen on Friday night, at least one shot was fired in Steilshoop on Saturday morning. Police investigations are ongoing, but perpetrators remain at large in both cases. Steilshoop Incident: 23-Year-Old Shot in the Thigh
According to police, an altercation between several individuals occurred around 11:30 AM on Saturday in Fritz-Flinte-Ring in Steilshoop. During the dispute, a 23-year-old man was shot in the thigh. Emergency services and a doctor treated the injured man at the scene before transporting him to a hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening.
Residents alerted the police after hearing gunshots and witnessing two men fleeing the scene. This prompted a large-scale police operation. According to NDR, officers with machine guns cordoned off surrounding streets, and more than a dozen patrol cars were deployed. The police helicopter “Libelle” also assisted in the aerial search for the suspects.
Schnelsen Shooting: Man Injured in the Leg on Friday Night
Earlier, on Friday night, another man was shot in Schnelsen. According to NDR, the man was involved in an argument with another individual at a house door on Burgwedel street. The perpetrator then reportedly shot him in the leg. The injured man was taken to a hospital, and his injuries are also not life-threatening.
Political Debate on Police Presence in Steilshoop
The incident in Steilshoop has sparked a political debate regarding police presence in the district. CDU Member of Parliament Sandro Kappe, as reported by the “Hamburger Morgenpost,” called for a dedicated police station in Steilshoop. He referred to several recent police operations in the district, while also emphasizing that individual incidents should not be conflated.
