Physical Attack on a Ticket Inspector in Englschalking
Earlier, on Friday afternoon, May 29, a 21-year-old German man was unable to produce a valid ticket during a ticket inspection on the S8 S-Bahn line. At the Englschalking stop, S-Bahn ticket inspection staff exited the train with him, where an argument ensued.
During the altercation, the German man attacked one of the two railway employees, a 51-year-old Tunisian man, with punches. A 43-year-old German man who was also present on the platform witnessed the attack and intervened to separate the two. In the process, the 21-year-old bit the helper’s arm, causing a bleeding wound.
The assaulted employees detained the fare dodger until federal and state police arrived. Officers from the Munich Police Headquarters arrested the 21-year-old and handed him over to the federal police. The 51-year-old reported minor facial injuries, while the 43-year-old’s bite wound was treated by emergency medical services at the scene. Both victims declined transport to the hospital.
A voluntary breathalyzer test conducted on the 21-year-old showed a blood alcohol content of 0.96 per mille. After police procedures, all parties involved were released.
