Unsecured Vehicle Rolls Over Injured Woman in Berlin-Wilmersdorf

Berlin, March 23 – An unusual and tragic accident occurred yesterday evening in Berlin’s Wilmersdorf district, where an already injured 61-year-old woman was run over by an unsecured car. The incident led to the woman suffering bone fractures, requiring hospital treatment.

According to preliminary police findings, the 61-year-old woman stepped onto Laubacher Straße when a 54-year-old driver, operating a VW bus, was simultaneously traveling in the direction of Südwestkorso. The bus driver collided with the older woman and immediately began to administer first aid. However, in doing so, she reportedly failed to adequately secure her vehicle.

The Vehicle Moves Independently

The unsecured VW bus then began to move on its own, rolling over the 61-year-old woman who was lying on the ground. The vehicle subsequently crashed into a tree. Emergency services were immediately alerted and dispatched to the scene.

Paramedics transported the injured woman to a hospital for inpatient treatment of her bone fractures. A specialized criminal investigation unit from Police Directorate 2 (West) has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances and responsibilities.

Ongoing Investigations

This incident highlights the critical importance of securing vehicles, especially during emergencies. The police investigation will focus on understanding how the vehicle became unsecured and whether any negligence contributed to the secondary injury of the woman.

The Berlin Police continue to provide updates on various incidents across the capital. Recent reports from other districts include an assault and stabbing in Treptow-Köpenick, a pedestrian critically injured in a traffic accident in Marzahn-Hellersdorf, and a police operation involving a taser in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. Additionally, recent high school graduation celebrations prompted several police deployments across Berlin.

Further details regarding the investigation into the Wilmersdorf incident are expected as the specialized unit continues its work.
