Munich, May 25, 2026 – Air Serbia has officially reinstated direct flights between Belgrade and Munich, a route that had been suspended for 18 years. The resumption of service, which took place on Friday, May 23, 2026, marks a significant enhancement in air connectivity between Serbia and one of Germany’s leading economic centers.
Daily Flights to Boost Connectivity
The reinstated service, operating under flight number JU342/3, will offer daily connections between the Serbian capital and Bavaria’s largest city. This move is expected to bolster economic ties, facilitate business travel, and encourage tourism between the two regions.
Jiri Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, emphasized the strategic importance of this development. “By establishing a direct connection between Belgrade and Munich, we are strengthening our presence in the German market and improving Serbia’s connectivity to a vital transport and economic hub in Europe,” Marek stated in a press release.
Munich: A Key Destination for Business and Leisure
Munich is recognized as a crucial destination for both business and leisure travelers. The introduction of daily flights underscores Air Serbia’s commitment to expanding its network and continuously adapting to market demands and passenger needs.
“With the introduction of daily flights, we reaffirm our commitment to expanding our network and continuously adapting to the needs of the market and our passengers. We enable fast and convenient connecting flights via Belgrade to our extensive network,” Marek added.
Expanded German Network and Flight Schedule
With this new addition, Air Serbia now offers direct flights from Belgrade and Niš to ten destinations across Germany. The specific flight schedule for the Belgrade-Munich route is as follows:
- Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays: Flights depart from Belgrade at 7:10 AM, with return flights from Munich at 9:30 AM.
- Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays: Flights depart from Belgrade at 5:55 PM, with return flights from Munich at 8:15 PM.
This comprehensive schedule aims to provide flexibility and convenience for travelers, catering to both morning and evening preferences throughout the week.
Economic Impact and Future Prospects
The re-establishment of this direct air link is anticipated to have a positive impact on both Belgrade and Munich. For Serbia, it opens up new avenues for trade, investment, and tourism with Bavaria, a region known for its strong economy and cultural richness. For Munich, it provides a direct gateway to the Balkans, potentially increasing business and tourism flows from Southeast Europe.
The move aligns with broader efforts to enhance regional connectivity and strengthen international partnerships. As Air Serbia continues to expand its route network, the focus remains on providing efficient and comfortable travel options that meet the evolving demands of its diverse passenger base.
This initiative follows previous announcements and developments, including new construction work at Belgrade Airport to renovate and adapt Terminal 1, as well as the construction of a new exit, indicating a broader strategy to modernize and expand air travel infrastructure in the region.
