The NFL has released its “2025 NFL Berlin Game Impact Study,” revealing impressive figures for the game between the Indianapolis Colts and the Atlanta Falcons, which concluded with a 31:25 overtime victory for the Colts. The study, conducted by “The Sports Consultancy,” indicates that the game and the preceding events generated a total economic impact of $74.3 million for the city and state of Berlin.
Fans Spent an Average of 373 Euros Daily
The study highlights that NFL fans spent an average of 373 Euros per day in the days leading up to the game. The event, which drew 72,203 spectators to the Olympiastadion, also captivated a global television audience of approximately eight million viewers. This is a remarkable figure, especially considering the early kickoff time on the American West Coast (9:30 AM).
NFL Experience Berlin a Major Draw
Prior to the game, the NFL hosted the “NFL Experience Berlin” at the Brandenburg Gate. This three-day American football festival featured a mini-flag football field and various other activities. Over the course of three days, more than 30,000 fans attended the Experience, with over 10,000 actively trying out Flag Football. Flag Football is set to make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Games.
NFL’s Commitment to Youth and Community
The NFL, in collaboration with the teams and the state of Berlin, also engaged more than 3,400 young people from 125 Berlin schools and youth organizations through NFL Flag Community Clinics, tournaments, and other Flag Football activities around the Berlin Game. Furthermore, over 250 teachers at 45 schools received Flag Football training. In partnership with Special Olympics Berlin, the NFL also organized an inclusive Flag Football tournament.
“The premiere in Berlin was another milestone for us in Germany and once again showed that we have established ourselves and successfully developed in Germany. Throughout the week, we and our partners succeeded in making football and the NFL tangible for the many fans in Berlin and worldwide,” said Alexander Steinforth, General Manager of the NFL in the DACH region. “We would like to thank the city and the state of Berlin for their excellent cooperation and look forward to continuing our partnership in 2027.”
Soaring Social Media Engagement
The NFL Germany’s social media channels recorded over 55 million video views and 83 million impressions in connection with the 2025 NFL Berlin Game. This represents an increase of 13 percent and 37 percent, respectively, compared to the 2024 NFL Munich Game.
Germany: Europe’s Largest NFL Fan Base
Germany boasts the largest NFL fan base in Europe, with approximately 20 million fans. NFL Regular Season Games have previously been held in Munich (2022 & 2024), Frankfurt (two games in 2023), and Berlin (2025). In 2026, the world’s largest sports league will return to Munich for the third time. The Detroit Lions, featuring German-American superstar Amon-Ra St. Brown, will face the New England Patriots on November 15th at the Allianz Arena.
