Three Arrested in Berlin Following Apartment Burglary in Kreuzberg
Berlin, July 20 – Three suspected burglars were arrested in Kreuzberg last night following an apartment break-in. Plainclothes officers from Regional Section 52/53 observed a vehicle driving suspiciously slowly through the Bergmannkiez area around midnight. The vehicle eventually stopped on Am Tempelhofer Berg.
According to preliminary investigations, two of the three occupants then proceeded to a rear building on Mehringdamm, where they allegedly smashed a ground-floor apartment window. One man is believed to have entered the apartment through the broken window, while the second man secured the scene. After the alleged burglar exited the apartment through the window, both men reportedly rejoined the third individual who had remained in the vehicle.
Police Intervention and Discovery of Stolen Goods
Police officers subsequently stopped the vehicle on Höppnerstraße and arrested the three occupants, aged 19, 28, and 37. Inside the vehicle, officers discovered suspected stolen goods from the affected apartment, as well as additional items that are believed to be from another apartment burglary.
Following identification procedures, the men were transferred to a specialized department of Police Directorate 2 (West) for further investigation. The trio is scheduled to appear before an investigating judge today for the issuance of an arrest warrant.
