Munich Startup Furo Secures €3.4 Million Investment for AI-Powered Storage Control

Munich, September 14 – Munich-based software company Furo has successfully closed a funding round of four million dollars (€3.4 million). According to a company statement, the capital will be invested in further developing its software, scaling into additional European markets, and expanding its team. The funding round was led by US investor TQ Ventures, with participation from Neo, the venture capital arm of Sheryl Sandberg (Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners), and CDTM Venture Capital.

Revolutionizing Energy Storage Management with AI

Furo’s innovative platform forecasts electricity prices and weather conditions up to 48 hours in advance. Based on these predictions, it optimizes the operation of energy storage systems in real-time and markets unused capacities in energy trading. This advanced software solution aims to significantly reduce electricity costs for its users.

Furo distributes its platform through installers, project developers, storage manufacturers, and energy suppliers. Currently, over 800 companies are utilizing Furo’s technology across more than 6,000 locations in Germany and Europe.

Significant Cost Savings for Customers

The company promises its customers a reduction in electricity costs of up to 40 percent. Lena Sophia Voß, co-founder of Furo, emphasized the core motivation behind their venture: “Our customers didn’t buy a battery to own a technology, but to lower their electricity bill. In one of the most volatile electricity markets in the world, software, not hardware, determines this. That’s exactly why we founded Furo.”

Origins and Future Growth

Furo was founded in 2025 as Lumera Energy by Lena Sophia Voß, Leonie Wagner, and Simon Wittner. The co-founders met during their joint master’s program at the Center for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) of LMU Munich and the Technical University of Munich.

The new investment will accelerate Furo’s strategic goals, enabling the company to enhance its software capabilities and broaden its market reach across Europe. The expansion of the team will support these growth initiatives, ensuring Furo continues to innovate in the rapidly evolving energy sector.

This funding round highlights the growing investor confidence in AI-driven solutions for energy management and the potential for significant impact on both cost efficiency and sustainable energy practices.
