Berlin, July 9 – The Berlin Public Transport Authority (BVG), in partnership with the outdoor advertising company Wall, has launched a pilot project for a new ‘Bus Stop of the Future’ in the Mitte district. The innovative bus shelter, located at the Spandauer Straße/Marienkirche stop near Alexanderplatz, is designed to offer a range of advanced functionalities beyond traditional waiting areas, focusing on safety, information, and passenger comfort.
Enhanced Safety and Emergency Features
A key feature of the new bus stop is its direct voice connection to the BVG’s security control center. This allows passengers to immediately report crimes or other incidents, ensuring a direct line of communication for emergencies. Additionally, the bus stop is equipped with a defibrillator, providing crucial rapid assistance in medical emergencies, underscoring a commitment to public safety.
Henrik Falk, CEO of BVG, emphasized the importance of these new safety measures. “We want our passengers to feel well-informed, well-oriented, and, above all, safe there,” he stated.
