Berlin, June 29 – Four masked suspects have been apprehended by a special police unit following a bistro robbery in Berlin-Tempelhof. The incident, which occurred early Monday morning, involved masked men threatening an employee with a firearm and demanding money. A shot was fired during the altercation.
Special Forces Involved in Apprehension
The arrests were made shortly after the robbery, with a special operations unit (Spezialeinsatzkommando) playing a key role in the apprehension. Police confirmed the involvement of the special unit in the early Monday morning operations.
The robbery took place at approximately 4:15 AM at a bistro located at the intersection of Tempelhofer Weg and Gottlieb-Dunkel-Straße. According to police reports, several masked men entered the establishment, brandished a firearm, and demanded money from an employee. During the ensuing confrontation, a shot was discharged.
Suspects Flee, Then Arrested
Following the robbery, the perpetrators fled the scene in vehicles. However, police quickly located and arrested the four fleeing suspects, aged between 23 and 28. The arrests were made at a café in Wedding and at the Jungfernheide S-Bahn station.
Authorities have since confiscated the getaway vehicle and the firearm used in the robbery. The special investigation unit “Ferrum,” which has been responsible for addressing the escalating firearm-related crime involving violent gangs since November, has taken over the investigation.
The quick response and successful apprehension of the suspects highlight the effectiveness of the Berlin police force, particularly the specialized units, in addressing serious criminal incidents.
Further details regarding the ongoing investigation are expected to be released as the case progresses. The incident underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in combating organized crime and ensuring public safety in the city.
