Munich, July 27, 2026 – The Hoffmann Group, a Munich-based manufacturer of tools, workshop equipment, and personal protective equipment, has confirmed the closure of its Göppingen site in Baden-Württemberg by the end of 2026. This decision, attributed to a strategic realignment of the sales organization in Germany, will result in the termination of 34 employees. However, the company emphasizes that it will not leave the affected staff without support.

Strategic Realignment Leads to Site Closure

The Hoffmann Group, founded in 1919 and employing approximately 4,000 people worldwide, acquired Hoffmann Göppingen Qualitätswerkzeuge GmbH & Co. KG in 2008. This long-standing distribution partner was subsequently developed into a competence center for machining and metrology. Despite these investments, the company has decided to consolidate its operations.

In a statement to IPPEN.MEDIA, the Hoffmann Group explained, “The reason for the closure of the site is a strategic realignment of the sales organization in Germany, through which we are adapting the structure of our sales organization.” This move is part of broader efforts to optimize the company’s operational efficiency and market approach.

Employees Informed and Supported

The 34 employees affected by the closure were personally informed of the decision and their impending terminations in March 2026. The company has since initiated comprehensive outplacement services, an employer-funded consulting program designed to assist employees in finding new employment opportunities.

“We have been able to find a socially responsible solution with all affected colleagues in individual discussions,” the company stated, highlighting its commitment to supporting its workforce during this transition. Operations at Hoffmann Göppingen Qualitätswerkzeuge GmbH & Co. KG are expected to continue without interruption until the official closure on December 31, 2026.

Hoffmann Group: Key Figures and Other Locations

The Hoffmann Group is a significant player in the tools industry. Key figures for the company include:

  • Founded: 1919
  • Headquarters: Munich, Bavaria
  • Industry: Tools
  • Employees: Approximately 4,000 (2025)
  • Revenue: 1.4 billion Euros (2024)

In addition to the Göppingen site, the Hoffmann Group maintains a presence in other German locations. In the southwest, this includes Garant Productions GmbH in Reutlingen, which has been known for premium quality tools under the Garant brand since 1973. Other German sites are located in Munich, Nuremberg, Bremen, Essen, Cologne, Bielefeld, and Braunschweig.

This closure comes at a time when the economic landscape is challenging, with several companies restructuring their operations. Recently, the Freudenberg Group from Baden-Württemberg also announced plans to close a site in Bavaria, indicating a trend of strategic adjustments across various industries.

The Hoffmann Group’s decision underscores the dynamic nature of the German industrial sector, where companies continuously adapt their strategies to remain competitive. While the closure of the Göppingen site is a significant event for the local workforce, the company’s commitment to supporting its employees through outplacement services aims to mitigate the impact of these changes.
