On Sunday, May 10th, the running world will unite for a single cause as the 13th Wings for Life World Run kicks off worldwide at precisely 1:00 PM. While the Flagship Run in Munich is completely sold out, the event is heading for a new record with its app-based participation.

Munich Flagship Run Sells Out Early, App Run Gains Momentum

The Wings for Life World Run has long been recognized as the world’s largest charity running event, extending its reach beyond the traditional running community. This year, the Flagship Run in Munich’s Olympic Park sold out earlier than ever before. 14,000 participants will gather there to support spinal cord research, with 100 percent of all entry fees directly funding the search for a cure for paraplegia.

Prominent Support for the World’s Largest Charity Run

In 2026, numerous well-known personalities are once again taking part. Alongside TV presenter Kai Pflaume and former national footballer Mario Gomez, particular attention will be on Esther and Hendrik Pfeiffer, who will once again be starting in Munich.

The running world will lace up their running shoes for spinal cord research on the second Sunday of May.

A special highlight awaits at the Munich Flagship Run in the Catcher Car. Olympic medal winner Emma Aicher and open water swimmer Nathalie Pohl will be at the wheel of the moving finish line. Exactly 30 minutes after the start, they will begin their pursuit, hunting down the field of participants with increasing speed.

Participate Anywhere with the App

For those who find the journey to Munich or another Flagship Run too far, or who were unable to secure one of the coveted starting places, there’s still a way to participate. “Anyone who wants to join at short notice can take part in the App Run – either alone or together at one of the now over 80 App Run Events across Germany,” say the organizers. Whether in Berlin, Hamburg, or in the middle of nature, thanks to the app with integrated audio experience and the virtual Catcher Car, a real race feeling is created everywhere.

Registrations for the App Run are possible right up until the start of the race. It remains to be seen who will have the endurance to escape the Catcher Car the longest on May 10th. One thing is certain: in Munich and around the world, people will be running on Sunday for those who cannot.
