Wings for Life World Run: Munich Flagship Run Sold Out, App Run Still Possible

Munich, May 5, 2026 – The running world will unite on Sunday, May 10, for the 13th annual Wings for Life World Run. The flagship event in Munich’s Olympic Park has officially sold out, with 14,000 participants registered to support spinal cord research. However, those who missed out on a spot in Munich can still join the global movement via the App Run, which is set to achieve a new record for participation.

A Global Movement for a Cause

The Wings for Life World Run is widely recognized as the world’s largest charity running event. This year, the Munich Flagship Run sold out earlier than ever before. All registration fees go directly to funding research for a cure for spinal cord injury.

Prominent Figures Join the Race

The 2026 event will once again feature numerous well-known personalities. TV presenter Kai Pflaume and former national footballer Mario Gomez will be participating, alongside Esther and Hendrik Pfeiffer, who will be running in Munich. Olympic medalist Emma Aicher and open water swimmer Nathalie Pohl will be driving the Catcher Car, the moving finish line that begins its pursuit 30 minutes after the start, gradually increasing its speed to catch the runners.

Participate Anywhere with the App

For those unable to travel to Munich or secure a spot in a Flagship Run, the App Run provides a flexible alternative. Participants can join individually or at one of over 80 App Run Events across Germany. The app features an integrated audio experience and a virtual Catcher Car, creating an authentic race atmosphere anywhere, whether in Berlin, Hamburg, or out in nature. Registration for the App Run remains open until just before the race begins. The event promises an exciting day as runners worldwide push their limits, all for those who cannot run themselves.
